We are thrilled to announce that four of our team members will be taking part in this year’s Hackney Half Marathon in May, raising money for our charity partner, NHS Charities Together.

Lucy Mills, Fizza Hassan, Matt Lane and Anisa Sanghrajka will be donning their running shoes to take on the 13.1 mile challenge in the heart of East London.

The training has already begun in earnest, with Couch to 5k and Strava coming in very handy so far!

Why are we running?

Last year, we started our partnership with NHS Charities Together, with the aim of raising money that directly supports the NHS. As a digital healthcare consultancy, whose main client is the NHS, it made perfect sense for us on many levels.

We managed to raise more than £1,000 in 2023, largely thanks to a Big Tea event we carried out in July, but we’re hoping to go even further this year – with a fundraising target of £2,500 for 2024.

One of the opportunities provided by NHS Charities Together was the chance to participate in the Hackney Half, one of the most popular races to take place in the capital each year.

Who are NHS Charities Together?

A national charity that works together with a network of over 230 NHS Charities across the UK, the main aim of NHS Charities Together is to help the NHS go further for staff and patients.

By leading national fundraising campaigns and supporting NHS Charities in their work, it seeks to assist the NHS to go above and beyond what would normally be possible and ensure that everyone can have better healthcare.

During the Covid-19 pandemic, it launched the first ever national appeal for the NHS, raising over £150 million to support staff through the crisis.

What does the course look like?

Last year’s Hackney Half saw 24,000 participants taking part, making it one of the most popular half marathons in the country.

Taking place this year on Sunday 19 May, the route takes runners through one of London’s most characterful areas – from Hackney Town Hall and Broadway Market to vibrant street art, Hackney Marshes and other green spaces. Alongside this, there will be live entertainment, food and DJs along the route to keep the runners motivated and the crowds entertained, in what the organisers describe as 'a festival atmosphere'.

And here is our company JustGiving page, too, if you wish to donate via there: Acumentice x NHS Charities Together - JustGiving.

Please keep an eye on this blog page and our socials for updates on their progress and the run itself.

Our team, all non-seasoned runners, have been training incredibly hard to get prepared for the marathon - we'll be cheering them on all the way to the finish line!
